What is Therapeutic Massage?

Therapeutic massage incorporates a variety of advanced modalities that enhance the body’s natural restorative functioning for reducing pain, muscle soreness and stress; while increasing energy and promoting relaxation. Light to firm touch is used to release tension, relax muscles, increase blood and lymph circulation, and impart a sense of calm.

Therapeutic massage can be used as a collaborative, supportive addition to conventional medical treatment of illness and injury, alleviating pain and stress, aiding soft tissue healing, and revitalizing the body. Also, regular massage can enhance health, providing relaxation, release of muscle tightness, relief from anxiety and tensions, and balancing aspects of body/mind/spirit.

Benefits of Massage

One of the immediate benefits of massage is a feeling of deep relaxation and calm. This occurs because massage prompts the release of endorphins; the brain chemicals (neurotransmitters) that produce feelings of wellbeing. Levels of stress hormones, such as adrenalin, cortisol and norepinephrine, are also reduced. Studies indicate that high levels of stress hormones impair the immune system.

Massage Therapy
Some of the physical benefits of massage include: Reduced muscle tension, Reduced anxiety and depression, Improved circulation, Relaxation, Stimulation of the lymphatic system, Reduction of stress hormones, Increased joint mobility and flexibility, Improved skin tone, Improved recovery of soft tissue injuries, Heightened mental alertness, Pain control, Digestive issues, and much more!

Inga has been a practicing Licensed Massage Therapist for the past 5 years, after graduating in 2016 from The Cortiva Institute. Inga specializes in Medical Massage as well as general therapeutic massage for wellness. Inga’s interest in Medical Massage began early in her career when she began suffering from extreme pain in her hands that was interfering with her work. Fortunately, a co-worker was known for her ability to help get clients out of pain, so Inga set up a session with her. From the beginning, the therapist’s method was completely different. Before even starting the massage, she used evaluation techniques to discover the source of her pain, not in her hands, but further up in her neck. The treatment that followed was a series of sessions timed closed together to work only on the neck; the coworker never even worked on her hands. In less than one month, the pain was gone and it never returned. Inga then knew that had to be the direction she took her career.
