Kids and Family Yoga with Jen Leary
Yoga improves behavioral issues for all children including those with learning disorders and has also been shown to improve the lives of children with autism spectrum disorders. Yoga is a tool empowering the child to self-regulate emotions and achieve calm in an overstimulating world. Airmid Wellness offers weekly yoga classes every Monday for kids and teens.
Yoga for Ages 4-11
Children of this age love to role-play and pretend, so this yoga class lets them be who they are.
This class is high energy and fast paced to keep them focused and moving. Even though their attention spans are short, they are always absorbing information on some level. To nurture this, each class is developed around a theme that aims to educate the whole child, so kids will often learn about the body, nature, math/ logic, language, music and intrapersonal skills during a class. Yoga at this age helps develop emerging language, math and memory skills, develops large and small motor skills, ability to engage in make-believe play, socialize, develop greater self-reliance and curiosity and develop empathy and altruism.

Yoga for Ages 12-17
With so many changes occurring in their lives, yoga for pre-teens and teens builds confidence, self-esteem and patience.
It can also help them search for identity within the larger world, increase their ability for abstract thought, improve their deductive reasoning and develop a personal philosophy. In their busy lives of school, sports, various after school activities, yoga acts as a companion. They learn to breath and relax in their own ever changing skins. They strengthen and stretch muscles, so they gain more flexibility and get hurt less when playing more vigorous sports. They also learn to understand the way their bodies work and how to care for it through breath, movement and meditation.
60 minutes / $15 / First Class is Free / Limited to 12 Students

Family Fun Yoga Class
This yoga class is for ages 3 and up. It’s fun for children, moms, dads, grandparents and even aunts and uncles and a great way for families to be active together.
It helps families to be calm together, as well as work on strength, flexibility and teamwork. Even though a child’s attention span may be short, they are always absorbing information on some level. Partner poses, songs and stories engage children and make yoga fun. Kids learn about the body, work on intrapersonal and fine motor skills as well as improve balance, patience and confidence. We also work on breathing exercises and learn how to calm the body. Doing all this with a parent is a great way to bond with your child and start them on the path of life long body awareness and fitness.
$20 per family per class. This class is held monthly on Saturday 8:30am to 9:30am. Check back for the next class date.

Jen has been practicing yoga as a student for 15 years, and brings this long love affair with yoga into her teaching style. Her children have also been a great influence on her style of teaching children. Her athletic teenage daughter has stress the importance of balancing stretch and breath with a vigorous sport schedule. Her autistic son has taught her unlimited patience and the benefits of a grounding practice for an energetic youth as well as the importance of the breath in the ability to gain focus in challenging situations.
